Shifnal Mens Section

There are around 530 men and juniors in the mens section which has its own Captain and President. A competition committee organises the mens, mixed and open competitions. Competitions are arranged throughout the year on both Saturdays and Sundays.  Weekday competitions are also available, usually played on Wednesdays and Fridays.  In addition matches, both men only and mixed, are played against other clubs.

In their competitions the men play for 16 trophies on a medal or Stableford basis. There are 3 knockout trophies, a monthly medal and a Merit cup for aggregate medal scores.
In June Captains Day is a four ball better ball.
Additionally there are Open competitions and an Invitation event.
Trophies and prizes are distributed at an annual prize giving.

A series of home and away matches versus other local clubs are available to all members.  These games are organised by the  vice captains and selection is on a fair shares for all basis.  There are both scratch (The Hargrove trophy) and handicap teams playing in leagues organised by the County.  These teams are selected on merit.

Special Mention

Golfing.  One trophy competition merits special mention. This is the Festival Cup which is a competition played over two days, with an overnight stay, on an away course or courses.    From October on the committee organises a regular series of Christmas events culminating in a big weekend just before Christmas when all the prizes are distributed.
